ASG President Addresses Staffing Needs in Industry Leading Publication

Farmington Hills, Mich., June 4, 2007 -- ASG President, Laurie Bradley was recently quoted in the industry leading publication Staffing Industry Report on the changing employment situation in the Detroit area.

In the article titled "Detroit Rolls On: Staffers still see opportunities," Bradley indicated that while Michigan has the highest unemployment rate out of the 50 states, it's not all gloom and doom for Metro Detroit. "There is a shift happening in the kinds of jobs in demand. I know that we are losing jobs in some traditional industries, but creating new jobs." Bradley went on to say that some of the new jobs are in hybrid and alternative fuel technologies, pharmaceuticals and health.

The Detroit area had 31,200 fewer jobs in March compared with March 2006. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, it's the biggest loss of all 369 U.S. metropolitan areas for the month. The area's most-noted industry, auto manufacturing, is going through tough times. But for staffing companies, opportunities still exist in the Motor City. Bradley said the auto industry remains a big contributor to Michigan's economy, and it will rebound, but it will be different. "We believe they will thrive, they will just find a better way to do it."

Bradley went on to say that ASG Renaissance is helping some of its clients, such as automotive equipment manufacturers, to move into other areas. ASG uses the strength of its three divisions, human capital (which includes staffing), marketing and consulting. The "heads to hips" program helps companies that do precision manufacturing in the automotive industry move into other industries. For example, a manufacturer might move from making auto parts to artificial hips. "Our message to clients is really look with a critical eye to what you do well," said Bradley. "Then look to something a couple degrees different for a possibility."
